As with all African countries, AFS details are available, but we recommend using us for permits. It’s not worth the fighting for the low cost of these permits. You’ll want to give a good amount of notice for any landing in Burundi (two to three weeks), but overfly permits can be processed in a few days.

Comoros
You can send permit requests direct but it can be awkward if you don’t speak French. Our ops team can take care of that. Three days notice is needed for private and overflights, watch out for a series of commercial flights, they take at least 45 days.
Dijbouti
Communication can be difficult with the authorities here. Your best bet is to use an AMERICAN FLIGHT SUPPORT Ops Team, it makes life a lot simpler. Give three days notice for all flights although multiple commercial landings need as long as six weeks advance notice.
You’ll often find using Djibouti is ideal for avoiding operating to Ethopia and Eritrea in the same sector…they don’t allow that.
Eritera
Like some other African Nations it can be difficult to get replies to any messages here. Use AMERICAN FLIGHT SUPPORT Ops Team, as the CAA phone lines often don’t work. Three days notice is plenty in most cases.
You’re not allowed to fly in Ethiopia and Eritrea in the same sector, so you’ll either need to avoid, or plan a stop to split it up, often Djibouti is the way to go
Etheopia
Contact AMERICAN FLIGHT SUPPORT Ops Team for your permits. Average lead times for notice 24 hours for private flights and overfly, seven days for commercial landing.
Remember, you’re not allowed to fly in Ethiopia and Eritrea in the same sector, so you’ll either need to avoid, or plan a stop to split it up, and most reports are that Djibouti is the way to go.
Keniya
AMERICAN FLIGHT SUPPORT will easily arrange permits for Kenya. Three to four days notice of your flight is needed.
Keep an eye on safeairspace.net for risk factors when flying over or to Kenya.
Rawanda
